The Story of Our Name
Why Two Rivers?
The name Two Rivers Counseling was chosen because rivers symbolize strength, renewal, and the unstoppable force of movement. No matter what obstacles are placed in their way, rivers always a way through. They carve valleys, shape landscapes, and create life wherever they flow.
- Persistence & Healing Over Time - Water flows around obstacles, finding new paths when the way is blocked. Counseling is a process of persistence and consistency, where small steps over time can transform deep patterns and struggles.
- Community & Place – Rooted in Northern Minnesota, rivers are part of our landscape and way of life. Our name honors both the power of water and the resilience of the community we serve.
- Depth & Reflection - Still waters reflect clearly. Therapy provides a reflective space for clients to look inward, gain clarity, and better understand themselves.
- Relationships – Just as two rivers begin on separate paths and eventually converge, so do people. Two lives, two experiences, or two stories can come together in relationship—whether between client and counselor, partners, or family members. We recognize that trauma often happens through relationships, but so does healing. Therapy becomes the meeting place, where two rivers flow forward together with new strength.
