Cortney is a dedicated and compassionate holistic Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 20 of experience in pediatric, geriatric, mental health crisis nursing, and providing comprehensive psychiatric care. With a strong emphasis on treating the whole person, Cortney integrates traditional psychiatric practices with holistic approaches, focusing on the interplay between mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being.
After earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from College of St. Scholastica and a Master of Science in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health from Walden University, Cortney obtained board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She is committed to ongoing education and professional development, staying updated on the latest evidence-based practices and holistic therapies and is currently working on her Doctorate of Nursing Practice with a focus on Lifestyle Medicine.
Cortney believes in empowering patients through collaborative care, tailoring treatment plans to meet individual needs and preferences. Along with therapeutic psychopharmacological and therapy means, her approach often incorporates mindfulness, nutrition, exercise, and integrative therapies to promote healing and resilience. Passionate about mental health advocacy, Cortney actively participates in community outreach programs and workshops to reduce stigma and raise awareness about mental health issues. In her practice, Cortney creates a safe and nurturing environment where clients feel heard and understood. She strives to foster a therapeutic alliance that encourages growth, self-discovery, and sustainable mental wellness.
When not caring for patients, Cortney loves spending time with her 14 nieces and nephews, parents and siblings, youth group kids, and friends. She also enjoys hiking, camping, party planning, reading, cooking, baking, raising chickens, and trying not to kill the herbs in her garden, and attending basically anything that will further enrich her holistic perspective on overall health and wellbeing.
